MSS: how it works

Australian hospitals and other organisations donate equipment that they no longer need.

AFAP volunteers test and refurbish equipment.
-
Requests for equipment are received in the form of a ‘wish list’ from participating countries.

Funding for shipments is secured through charitable organisations with volunteers and staff overseeing the final packing and dispatch of the containers.
-
Upon arrival, our in-country partners assist in the distribution of the supplies and operate a monitoring system to ensure that the program is running effectively.

MSS: how you can help?

- Make cash donations to the MSS to assist us with the operational costs of the service. This is our area of greatest need.

Sponsor shipment of specific containers to overseas destinations.

Provide free transportation from Australia’s donor hospitals to our warehouse, or donate funds to cover these costs.

Periodically volunteer your services to help sort and maintain both the warehouse and donated materials.
- Make a general cash donation to AFAP to assist in our work to improve the well-being and health of the most disadvantaged people in developing countries around the world.
