Timor Leste

This program is setting up adult classes in 10 districts to educate rural women and youth on their roles in an emerging democracy. In these classes, participants are encouraged to design and produce simple publications on democratic principles and human rights. With this knowledge comes increased self-confidence and political awareness, which are necessary to produce an environment where human rights become the norm.
