Polling and Surveying

Solomon Islands

Since 1989, SIDT has conducted surveys to let citizens express opinions on their government’s operations. The results of these surveys were then given to each of the Solomon’s last seven governments in a report card that detailed the people’s ratings of their work. Three weeks before the first intervention force landed in the Solomon’s in 2003, SIDT conducted a poll on the intervention, which returned a 94% approval rating. These surveys continue to ensure governments are held accountable to the people they serve.
