Na Ri Integrated Rural Community Development Project

Viet Nam

Na Ri is one of Bac Can’s poorest districts with ethnic minority groups making up 95% of the commune’s population with Tay, Nung and Dao people the most predominant. This AusAID funded, integrated rural development project includes three components: agriculture, health and micro-credit activities. The agriculture component involves pig raising, vet worker training, agro-forestry, handicraft models and bee-keeping, while the health component consists of water sanitation, health worker training, household hygiene and innovative activities such as establishing traditional medicinal gardens. The micro-credit component works with the Women’s Village, Commune and District Unions to provide money for households to borrow and use for project supported activities.
