Southeast Asia Emergencies

Today more than ever the world has witnessed the need to be prepared for natural disasters. We are working with vulnerable countries to prepare for emergencies such as earthquakes, droughts, tsunamis and cyclones by improving their existing disaster management practices. The program combines traditional coping mechanisms with modern technology, namely The Australian-Pacific Centre for Emergency and Disaster Information (APCEDI).

APCEDI is a website managed by AFAP to help with rapid disaster response assessment. Originally a communications network that was activated during a disaster to provide information to our FSPI offices, this site now posts updates about natural disasters that are likely to affect the Pacific region and Australia. For updates from the site, or to subscribe to the emergency alert service, click here.
